The caravan site is partly sheltered and grassy. It is set in approximately two acres and is divided into two paddocks.

·  Both paddocks have electric hook ups and drinking water supply

·  There are no toilets or showers on site. Visitors need to have their own toilet facilities.

·  All disposal points including a recycling station are in the first paddock.

The road to the site is a typical Cornish lane, but has many passing place. Most visitors want to know if the entrance to the site is easy.  The entrance to the site is wide enough to allow access to very large vehicles.  It measures approximately 18 foot wide.

Arrival

If nobody is out and about on site when you arrive, please press the door bell on the side of a wooden garage for attention.

Many trees have been planted in the caravan site and are beginning to mature. Amongst them are six different types of Cornish apple trees. The hedgerows and trees around the paddocks are maintained to ensure an abundance of wild flowers and wildlife. There are several nest boxes around the site and bird feeding points.

Deerpark Forest borders the south side of the caravan site and Trenchway Wood is on the north, just across the other side of the lane that leads to the caravan site.

First Paddock

First paddock looking towards entrance

The first paddock is fairly level and has room for 3 units with hook ups.  There are two hook up points at the end of the stable.  They are tucked away under a wooden cover.  Another hook up is available for us from the far paddock and a large area available for units without hook ups.

Far Paddock

The far paddock has slightly more slope than the first paddock, so two specially leveled areas were created separated by two banks. A Beech hedge has been planted on the banks and will hopefully grow up and create cosy enclosures. Unfortunately, the Roe deer and rabbits rather like eating the young shoots of the Beech and it is taking a long time to establish itself.

There are four electric hook up points and fresh drinking water in the far paddock

There is plenty of room in this paddock for those that do not require a hook up

Reinforced track to far paddock

The route through the first paddock to the far paddock has been reinforced with mesh buried just beneath the surface of the grass.

It took a lot of hard work ensuring the mesh was flat to the ground and pinned down.

It took several months for the mesh to be covered with grass, but now it cannot be seen.

The mesh has proved very useful when there has been heavy rain and has helped protect the way through to the far paddock.

Map of Deerpark Forest

This map gives a rough guide of some of the walks that are available in the woods. At times, when the Forestry Commission is felling trees, some of the footpaths and trails may be closed for safety reasons.
